Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering

Want to give back to your community? Volunteering is a great way to support the library. We appreciate our volunteer's service and would love to talk potential volunteers. Volunteering opportunities are open to Rolling Meadow residents.

Kids

You are never too young to start giving back. Kids under 14 can help the library and community by participating in a variety of independent service projects. The best part is you can do it from home!

  • Write a Book Review
  • Make a hand-made card with a positive message
  • Write a letter of thanks to a community hero: Have your kids write a letter to a first responder, teacher, or other community leaders. It’s always nice to recognize the hard work and job they do for everyone.

Teens

Are you looking for something fun to do after school or need volunteer hours for school? If you are in grade 9 and up we have volunteer opportunities for you! Teen volunteers assist the youth services department with programming and help librarians with a variety of tasks.

Please print and fill out a volunteer interest form PDF Form then return it to the Ask Me Desk on the lower level. Teen volunteers require parental permission to participate.

Adults

If you’re friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about the library, we have volunteer opportunities for you. To apply, please print and fill out a volunteer interest form PDF Form then return it to the Welcome Desk. Positions are filled based on need, availability and experience.

If you would like to volunteer but need accessibility accommodations, we can work with you to find a good match. Please print and fill out the ADA Accommodation Form PDF Form as part of your volunteer application process.

Volunteer Responsibility

The following is expected of all adult and teen volunteers:

  • Sign yourself in and out
  • Adhere to the rules of the Library
  • Follow directions
  • Ask questions when unsure of procedure
  • Be respectful of patrons and staff
