Summer Reading Challenge 2023: Take a Bite Out of Reading

June 5 - August 13

Come in and check out what we have cooking this summer! Stop by the Readers Advisory Desk to sign-up. When you sign up you will receive a menu, a themed notepad, and a spin on the pizza pie wheel!

Registration starts June 5

Last day to report is Saturday, August 19

Read and win:

Sign up at the Readers Advisory Desk for the Summer Reading Challenge and be entered to win fabulous prizes! Come in and enjoy our displays and decor, and get ideas for your summer reading picks!

Earn a spin on the pizza pie wheel for each book you read. Also earn a raffle ticket to place into the sponsored restaurant box of your choice, and for each book recorded. Finish and record six books to win a free Take a Bite Out of Reading apron.

To Register:

  1. Stop by the Readers Advisory Desk to register adult and teen readers* 9th grade and up.
  2. Fill out your contact information and pick up a reading log menu and free notepad, then spin on the pizza pie wheel.
  3. You just completed the first step! Don't forget to grab a few books on the way out.

*If you have a reader in 8th grade or younger, sign them up at the Ask Me Desk on the lower level.

Log Reading:

  1. Each menu item on your log has a specific reading theme, so choose your books accordingly. Record the title and author for each book you complete.
  2. The more menu items you sample, the more chances you have to win! Every completed menu item earns you a raffle ticket and a spin on the pizza pie wheel. Bring your menu to the Readers Advisory Desk to claim your prizes.
  3. Complete six menu items to win a free Take a Bite Out Of Reading apron!

My Year of Truly Great Reads

A Yearlong Reading Challenge.
September 1, 2023 - August 31, 2024

Calling ALL readers! Join us for a new reading challenge. It's an easy, enriching and self-paced reading program that will take you through the non-fiction stacks. Whether you read fiction or nonfiction, no worries! There are great non-fiction books that read just like your favorite novel!

Stop at the Reference Desk to register.

We'll have monthly prize drawings, and a party for participants in August 2024!

Read and win:

Sign up at the Reference Desk to receive your reading log and challenge sheet. You will also get your first raffle ticket upon sign-up!

Earn a raffle ticket for each book you read. The more you read the more chance to win you earn (up to 3 per month). Enter each monthly raffle to win gift cards to local businesses like Red Apple, Papa Saverio's, Comet Frozen Custard, Jewel, Dunkin' Donuts, and more!

To Participate:

  1. Select a book(s) to read/listen to from the suggested non-fiction subjects each month.
  2. Read! This can mean reading a book cover to cover, trying a new recipe from a cookbook, testing out a workout routine, etc.
  3. Return to the Reference Desk each month to record your reading and receive your monthly raffle ticket(s). We have paper logs to help you keep track (optional).
  4. Drop your raffle ticket(s) in the box for a chance to win a gift card. Good Luck!

Bonus! Reading more than one subject from each month's suggested list means that you’ll have more chances to win. Read up to three subjects per month, even out of order!

Winter Reading Challenge 2024: Read a Latte and Warm Up this Winter

January 15 - March 10

Calling all readers! Java good time reading great books and drinking warm beverages this winter. Sign up at the Readers Desk to begin earning prizes!

Bingo cards must be turned into the Readers Advisory Desk by March 10.

Read a Latte and win prizes when you play the Winter Reading Challenge LATTE game. Pick up a LATTE card starting January 15th and start reading!

Color or cross out each activity you complete. Complete five activities across, vertically or diagonally to get a “LATTE.” For each “LATTE” completed you will get a treat and a raffle ticket. When you complete the whole card, bring it to the library to be entered in the grand prize drawing and pick up a completion prize.

January 16 - March 5

Put on your monocle to start reading and winning beginning January 16. No excuses! Let’s begin! Go directly to the Readers Desk to begin earning prizes!

Game boards must be turned into the Readers Advisory Desk by March 5.

Play LibraryOpoly!, where you collect knowledge and cool prizes. Pick up a game board starting January 16th and start winning!

There are 12 ways to win! Complete game board challenges to win a spin on the prize wheel and raffle tickets. Complete the entire board to win a cozy winter gift set.
